Welp after a long several weeks, me and hubs finally threw both kids at their grandparents to have our much needed DATE NIGHT!

And by date night, I mean afternoon date, because let’s not get crazy. Y’all know I need to be in bed my 9:30pm.😂 So we did an activity we’ve been dying to try: axe throwing! We opted to visit Axe KPR in Pasco.

Intimidation at its finest

Even though I couldn’t wait to try this activity I didn’t know exactly what to expect. We didn’t get any online reservations and just went on a whim. We drove there on a Sunday afternoon so I think we got lucky and missed out on having to wait in line. (Yay!) After signing our waivers up front we were escorted back to their throwing lanes. Here we go!

Embrace Your Inner Lumberjack

Ever wondered what it feels like to be a lumberjack, conquering mighty trees in the wild? Well, at Axe KPR, you get to harness that power and precision. We got coached on safety, rules and how to throw each type of tool which included an axe, tactical hatchets and ninja stars! I’m short and petite. When I saw how far the target was and how heavy that axe felt, I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to land a thing. But, boy was I wrong! And wow was the thrill of the throw so much fun!!

A workout Like No Other

Axe KPR isn’t just about throwing axes (though, let’s admit, that’s the best part!). It was also quite the workout. It was only the two of us and we paid for the 45 minute session (but there was also an option for 90 minutes) and our time slot felt FAST. The facility does a fun thing where the last 10 minutes of your session you’re given a playing card and tacked onto the center of the target. You have until your time ends to try to hit the playing card and if you do, you get to place it on the walls of fame along with your name. To say my hubby was proud of himself was an understatement.

Events + League Availability

Along with booking times, they host a variety of events suitable for everyone, from beginners to seasoned axe-throwing pros. Join one of their axe throwing leagues or celebrate special occasions like birthdays or bachelor/bachelorette parties in the most epic way possible—by hurling axes with your friends! They also offer full venue rentals for 50 people for 2-3 hours.

Had a tough day at work or just feeling a bit stressed out? There’s something incredibly therapeutic about releasing all that tension with the satisfying thunk of an axe hitting the target, or hurling a ninja star. It’s like your worries just melt away with every throw, leaving you feeling refreshed and invigorated. I was particularly fond of the tactical hatchets perfect for my little hands (although I was not very good). I’ll just have to keep coming back to practice!
